Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD) is an inflammation and irritation of the lower portion of the urinary tract. We typically see this in young male cats, but any cat at any age can be affected. The signs that a cat often presents with are, but are not limited to, difficulty urinating, increased urination, and blood in the urine.
Feline Leukemia Virus and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
The Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) are two of the most prevalent viruses that affect cats. These viruses can be the cause of many diseases, such as upper respiratory infection. These viruses can result in the suppression of the immune system this leaves the cat potentially vulnerable to infections that would not normally cause a problem in an otherwise healthy cat.
